The Tribeca Loft residence in Manhattan has recently been conferred the Merit Award granted by Residential Architect, the magazine of the American Institute of Architects. Occupying a full floor of a 19th-century warehouse building, the loft has been entirely transformed by architects Aniket Shahane, from Brooklyn, and Asheshh Saheba, from San Francisco.
The residence’s kitchen, a creation of Fellini Designs, was conceived by Luca Fellini in collaboration of with the architects. The vision was to create an open and stylish contemporary space in harmony with the rest of the loft. The materials used are a combination of white bleached oak and bianco neve glossy lacquer. The kitchen cabinets were made in Italy by Cucine Lube and distributed by Fellini Designs. Given that the owners love to entertain, the kitchen was tailored to occupy a central space, ideal for socializing and entertaining. A large island is used not only as a work surface but also as a gathering place, while defining the limits of the kitchen space which is open to the living and dining areas. One of the corners of the kitchen has been set up with a wine fridge and a cantilever wet-bar. The jury has described the residence “a fresh take on the loft … industrial with finesse.”
