Space and the kitchen
The kitchen is conceived as the center of the home – a concept explored by Frank Lloyd Wright in his residential projects where the kitchen embodies a central “hearth”. Open spaces become the binding principle between the kitchen, the dining room and the living room. Integration of the kitchen into these larger environments is achieved by means of islands and peninsulas that also add functionality. The current tendency leans towards asymmetric plans and layouts.
